Happy new month, dear readers. We made it to December! Wow, God is faithful!
Okay, let’s eat.
You know those times when the food is over-salted and the person who cooked it says,
“Chumvi ndiyo iliingia nyingi.” (It’s the salt that got into the food in large quantities.)
Is it just me or is that a common thing to hear?

I usually try to visualize the salt having a life of its own and jumping into the food that is being cooked. We all know that’s not what happens. It’s the person cooking who puts the salt in the food unless someone else creeps in and does so in an attempt to ‘spoil the broth’.
Our fallen nature carries the tendency to point the finger at something or somebody else when things go wrong.
Gen 3:12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
Gen 3:13b And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
‘Running from responsibility, really we crave
The easy way out from places that call us to pull our weight.’
Lyrics from Man Up Anthem
The mature man bears responsibility, even when it isn’t his fault.
When we play the blame game, that’s really all there is to it. We point the finger and punishment is meted out.
When we take responsibility, there’s an effort that is made towards positive change.
Look at Aaron. He played the blame game—his sounds like the ‘salt-jumping-into-the-food’ thing.
Exodus 32:22-24 And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief. For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.
Look at David taking responsibility.
1 Chronicles 21:17 And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father's house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.
Responsibility is the price for greatness.
I forget who said that. Oh well,
Here’s the Declaration:-
No matter what may be going wrong, let us stop looking for who to blame:-
ü The government.
ü Everybody else.
ü Our lot in life.
ü (Fill in the blank).
Let us take responsibility instead and change our worlds. Ask yourself, “What can I do to right this wrong?” The answer could even be a very simple thing like interceding.
Blame Game: Care to play?
Sorry, it’s not my kind of thing.
Have a great week all ye great people.
