Civilian Affairs
are not for GOOD soldiers!
2Timothy 2:3-4 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
I culled the one coming up from Casting out demons LIVE - YouTube. Starting at around minute 53:58 (non-verbatim).
I was watching a documentary and saw that when soldiers come back from war they struggled to go to the grocery store, struggled to go to movie theatres, struggled to drive a car. They can’t do anything because they’re so used to war that civilian life is uncomfortable. It’s abnormal, and it makes them feel uncomfortable.
That is exactly where God has called you. He has called you to a realm where you are uncomfortable not engaging daily in spiritual warfare. Where you are uncomfortable sitting through five hours of the office and then falling asleep 10 minutes in prayer. Where you are uncomfortable binge watching Netflix, Hulu, Instagram, YouTube Premium, Disney+…
Here is the Declaration:
Sing, “I’m a soldier in the army of the Lord.”
Sing again, “I’m in the Lord’s army, yes, sir.”
We sing the songs, but how do we measure up when it comes to living it up? Do we want to please the One who has called us to be soldiers? Then let us ask for grace to disentangle from civilian affairs.
Onward Christian Soldier!
Tomorrow, we check into December. It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed. How many thankful people do I have? Speaking of gratitude, make a point to catch up with us on Hospital Visitation for this one.
