Do Not Fear
Only Believe
Hello, hello. Greetings, dear readers.
Who else saw this on the news this past week?
Earthquake strikes west coast of Turkey - girl dies from panic attack Earthquake strikes west coast of Turkey - girl dies from panic attack | Watch
A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck the west coast of Turkey on Tuesday morning. In Fethiye, a girl died after a panic attack and dozens were injured. The quake was also felt on Rhodes in Greece. There was no major damage.
Evidently, it was not the earthquake that killed the girl. It was fear. Fear is a killer. You know what I figure? It should be listed as one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Numerous people have died from fear.
I heard Apostle Johnson Suleman share this story (non-verbatim): -
One day, a man was working on his farm as the spirit of death passed by. When he saw it, he ran to hide. Death spotted him and said, “Ah, I saw you, but it is not your turn. I’m passing by. Come out and continue with what you were doing.” The man came out relieved, “Phew! I’m glad it is not my turn. Where are you going?” The spirit of death said, “I am going to kill 10 people in the next city.”
The following morning, lamenting was heard in that city. When the man asked about it, he was told that 100 people had died. “Ah, that death is a liar,” he said to himself, and when he spotted death coming back his way, he darted to hide, but just like the first time, death sighted him. “What is the matter? I told you that your time has not yet come. I am going to another city.”
The man cried out, “You! You liar! You told me you were only going to kill 10 but you killed 100!”
“No, I only killed 10 people,” death retorted, “It was fear that killed the other 90.”
Selah.
Faith comes by hearing. Fear also comes by hearing. The difference is made by 'what' is being heard. When you experience fear, check what you are listening to. Remember how Rabshakeh and his crew came threatening King Hezekiah in 2nd Kings 18-19? What was God’s counsel to Hezekiah through the prophet Isaiah?
2Kings 19:6 And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith the LORD, BE NOT AFRAID OF THE WORDS which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
BE NOT AFRAID OF THE WORDS WHICH THOU HAST HEARD.
Not be afraid!!! I mean, these were the Assyrians that had destroyed nations and their lands. Was there a good reason why Hezekiah should NOT be afraid? The subsequent verse carries it.
2Kings 19:7 Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.
It was because GOD WAS GOING TO INTERVENE.
DO NOT FEAR, ONLY BELIEVE. (Mark 5:21-43)
They brought the sad tidings to Jairus that his daughter was dead; therefore, he did not need to trouble the Master anymore.
Jesus, HEARD THAT WORD, knew that it would INJECT fear and therefore stated,
Mark 5:36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
Here’s the Declaration: -
Never fear. Beware of fear. Do not fear. Know ye not that this is how the enemy gains access into your life for a performance of that which has been feared?
Therefore, I say unto you, be not afraid of the terrifying words…
…you heard in the news.
…you heard from the doctor.
…you heard from your friends. (By the way, fear is contagious, and so is faith.)
…because we have a God who can intervene in our situations.
As I tidy up, if you are plagued by fear:-
Recognize that fear is a spirit, and what do we do to demonic spirits? We cast them out. 2Timothy 1:7.
Know that God is with you, loves you and is so much bigger than anything that may try to harass you. Isaiah 43:5, Psalm 23:4, Isaiah 41:10.
Only believe. The opposite of fear is faith. Build your faith. As the popular saying goes, “Feed your faith and starve your fears.”
Until the next one,
The Lord bless you and keep you,
Shalom.
